Walmart's EV Charging Network Reaches Significant Milestone with 100th Fast-Charging Station

Walmart has emerged as a formidable presence in the electric vehicle charging sector across the United States, recently inaugurating its 100th fast-charging station. The latest facility, located at the Walmart Supercenter in Monument, Colorado, was unveiled with a celebratory ceremony last week, underscoring the retail giant's accelerating commitment to expanding its EV infrastructure.
This development represents a pivotal moment for the retail chain, which initiated its branded EV charging network less than two years ago. With this new addition, Walmart now boasts operational EV charging stations in 20 states, a notable increase from the 17 states it served just a month prior. The rapid growth highlights the company's aggressive strategy to integrate EV charging solutions into its vast network of stores.
The Walmart Supercenter in Monument features four dedicated charging stalls, capable of delivering up to 400 kilowatts of power, simultaneously accommodating up to eight electric vehicles. These advanced, all-in-one dispensers, manufactured by industry leaders like ABB Mobility, are designed to eliminate the need for separate power cabinets. They offer a versatile combination of NACS (North American Charging Standard) and CCS1 connectors, streamlining the charging experience by removing the necessity for additional adapters.
Shayne Wahlmeier, Senior Vice President of Walmart Energy, emphasized the significance of this expansion, stating, "By broadening the availability of EV fast charging at Walmart locations nationwide, we are providing drivers with a reliable option to power their vehicles while they shop." He further added, "Reaching 100 sites is a crucial milestone that leverages our extensive footprint to enhance EV charging accessibility for communities and diversify the services we offer our customers."
Walmart exclusively utilizes 400 kW chargers, sourced from both ABB Mobility and Alpitronic. Charging sessions are conveniently managed through the Walmart mobile application, although some older dispensers also include card readers for payment. The majority of these charging sites are equipped with eight to sixteen stalls, featuring both CCS1 and NACS connectors, offering competitive pricing with an average rate of $0.43 per kilowatt-hour. Furthermore, Walmart+ members benefit from a 10% discount, making the service even more economical.
The company's swift expansion has been remarkable. In the second quarter of 2026, Walmart was surpassed only by Tesla in the deployment of new EV charging ports. During the first half of the year alone, the retail behemoth activated an impressive 612 charging stalls, demonstrating its vigorous efforts to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles by enhancing charging accessibility.
