Kia EV4 GT Debuts in Canada with Enhanced Performance and Sporty Design

Kia’s latest electric vehicle, the 2027 EV4 GT, has officially launched in Canada, representing a significant upgrade in performance and design. This new model builds on the success of the standard EV4, offering Canadian consumers a more dynamic driving experience and a host of premium features. While Canadian drivers can look forward to this exciting addition, the EV4's availability in the United States remains uncertain.
Kia EV4 GT: A Closer Look at Canada's New Performance EV
On September 2, 2026, Kia announced the availability of the 2027 EV4 GT for order in Canada. This highly anticipated model is the third 'affordable' electric vehicle from the brand to be offered with the performance-oriented GT package in the Canadian market. The standard EV4, first introduced in late 2025 with a starting price of CA$38,995, quickly established itself as Canada's most budget-friendly electric vehicle, even undercutting competitors like the Fiat 500e.
The newly unveiled EV4 GT elevates the driving experience with a sportier appearance, an array of enhanced standard features, and a notable boost in performance. Distinctive GT elements include neon-accented brake calipers, premium suede and synthetic leather seating, striking 20-inch alloy wheels, a specialized instrument cluster, and a dedicated 'GT button' on the steering wheel for an immediate performance surge.
Adding to its advanced features, the EV4 GT is equipped with a trim-exclusive head-up display (HUD). This innovative system projects essential driving information, such as vehicle speed and navigation instructions, directly onto the windshield, keeping drivers informed without diverting their gaze from the road.
Under the hood, the EV4 GT is powered by a larger 81.4 kWh battery, providing an estimated range of 431 kilometers (approximately 267 miles). Its formidable dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) powertrain delivers a combined output of 288 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque. This is a substantial improvement over the standard front-wheel-drive (FWD) EV4, which features a single front-mounted electric motor producing 201 horsepower and 209 lb-ft of torque.
The standard EV4 lineup offers diverse options, including the Light FWD Standard Range, Wind FWD Long Range, Wind Premium FWD Long Range, GT-Line FWD Long Range, and GT-Line Limited FWD Long Range. The 2027 Kia EV4 GT is now available for factory order at certified Kia dealerships across Canada, with a starting price of CA$58,595. The all-inclusive price, covering freight, environmental, and other associated fees, totals CA$61,344.
While the EV4 and its GT variant remain unavailable to consumers in the United States for the foreseeable future, Kia recently launched the EV3 in the US market. With a starting price of just $29,890, the 2027 Kia EV3 stands as one of the most affordable electric vehicles in the US, and according to Kia, it is now the lowest-priced EV in Canada as well.
The introduction of the Kia EV4 GT in Canada highlights Kia's commitment to expanding its electric vehicle offerings and catering to a diverse range of consumer preferences. The enhanced performance, advanced technology, and distinctive styling of the EV4 GT demonstrate Kia's ongoing innovation in the EV sector. This launch not only strengthens Kia's position in the Canadian EV market but also sets a high bar for future electric vehicle developments, prompting us to consider the evolving landscape of sustainable transportation and the increasing demand for high-performance electric options.
