GM, EVgo, and Pilot Co. Reach Milestone: Over 200 EV Charging Sites Operational
A remarkable milestone has been achieved in the realm of electric vehicle infrastructure, as General Motors (GM), EVgo, and Pilot Co. proudly declared the expansion of their joint charging network. This collaborative effort has resulted in a robust network now encompassing more than 200 sites across nearly 40 states, marking a significant stride in supporting the growing adoption of electric vehicles.
Pioneering EV Charging Expansion Across the Nation
In a pioneering move to bolster the nation's electric vehicle charging capabilities, General Motors, EVgo, and Pilot Co. have announced the successful deployment of their joint network across over 200 sites, spanning nearly 40 states. This significant expansion, revealed on September 9, 2025, sees the addition of approximately 850 new fast-charging stalls over a period of just over two years. The initiative has broadened its reach from 25 states less than a year ago to nearly 40, now including regions such as Colorado, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming, alongside substantial growth in Texas, Missouri, and Florida, particularly in underserved rural areas. Strategically located at Pilot and Flying J travel centers, these charging stations offer EV drivers the convenience of free Wi-Fi, dining options, and access to groceries and other amenities while their vehicles charge. The EVgo stalls are capable of delivering up to 350 kW, designed to significantly reduce charging times and facilitate quick returns to the road. Many locations boast overhead canopies for protection against the elements and pull-through stalls accommodating larger vehicles like trucks and trailers. Furthermore, the network supports Plug and Charge functionality for compatible electric vehicles. Badar Khan, CEO of EVgo, emphasized the network's objective to provide reliable charging solutions that support the flexibility inherent in American road trips, ensuring diverse fueling options for all drivers. Wade Sheffer, VP of GM Energy, echoed this sentiment, highlighting GM's commitment to enabling its customers to travel freely with their expanding range of electric models. This ambitious collaboration, initially announced in 2022, aims to establish up to 2,000 fast-charging stalls across 500 Pilot and Flying J locations nationwide. The partners are well on their way to achieving this goal, anticipating the completion of 1,000 stalls across 40 states by the close of 2025.
