Volvo's Electric Semi-Trucks Now Available in American Truck Simulator

In a groundbreaking development for virtual trucking enthusiasts, Volvo's electric heavy-duty trucks, specifically the VNL and VNR Electric models, have made their debut in the highly popular 'American Truck Simulator' game. This integration allows the game's expansive player base, exceeding seven million individuals, to immerse themselves in the experience of operating electric semi-trucks, traversing digital American landscapes. This move signifies a notable milestone, being the first instance where electric heavy vehicles are featured in the simulation, providing players with an authentic glimpse into the future of freight transportation.
Peter Voorhoeve, the president of Volvo Trucks North America, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership, highlighting it as an exceptional avenue to introduce both their traditional diesel and innovative battery-electric trucks to a global audience of truck aficionados. He underscored the game's passionate community, which values realistic driving experiences and meticulously designed vehicles. Voorhoeve proudly stated that Volvo's advanced truck models, representing the forefront of North American trucking technology, are now an integral part of this virtual world.
Players of 'American Truck Simulator' can look forward to exploring diverse environments, from the arid deserts of Arizona to the bustling urban streets of Chicago, all while navigating the iconic Route 66. The game now offers the opportunity to drive the Volvo VNR Electric, which was originally launched in 2020 as the pioneering heavy-duty electric truck in the US and Canada. With over 750 units already in operation across the continent and having collectively covered more than 30 million miles, the VNR Electric has established a significant real-world presence. Furthermore, the newer VNL Electric, unveiled earlier this year at the ACT Expo, is also available, featuring an innovative e-axle configuration, advanced ePTO technology, and an extended range that surpasses its regional-haul counterpart, the VNR.
The strategic decision to incorporate electric semi-trucks into one of the world's leading trucking simulators is widely seen as a stroke of genius. What surprises many observers is that Volvo is the first manufacturer to introduce Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) into the game. It is anticipated that the inclusion of more electric options will not only enhance the enjoyment for truck enthusiasts but also encourage a greater number of individuals to embrace electric powertrains in real-world scenarios, fostering a broader appreciation for the capabilities and environmental benefits of these advanced vehicles.
