Dreame, a company primarily recognized for its robot vacuum cleaners, has announced the discontinuation of its electric hypercar initiative. This venture, first unveiled in April, had garnered attention for its ambitious claim of integrating solid rocket boosters to achieve a 0-60 mph acceleration in a mere 0.9 seconds. The firm is also winding down all other automotive-related projects.
Amidst a growing trend of diverse companies venturing into the electric vehicle sector, Dreame, a Chinese manufacturer of home appliances, declared its intention last year to develop high-performance electric hypercars. The company subsequently showcased its initial hypercar prototype at CES earlier this year and even expressed plans for an SUV designed to rival the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. However, their most extravagant announcement came in April during a San Francisco event, where they detailed a rocket-powered iteration of their hypercar, suggesting the use of presumably single-use solid rocket boosters to surpass conventional traction limits.
