Porsche Unveils Exclusive 911 GT3 to Mark 75 Years in the UK

A Legacy of Innovation: Porsche's 75-Year Journey in Britain
A Commemorative Model: The 911 GT3 Touring Earls Court 51 Edition
To honor the 75th anniversary of Porsche's initial display of the 356 coupe and convertible at the London Earls Court Motor Show in October 1951, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur has meticulously crafted 51 units of the new 911 GT3 Touring Earls Court 51 Edition. This exclusive model, designed specifically for the British market, is priced at £251,951 (approximately $335,095). Each purchase includes a bespoke Porsche Design chronograph, a premium leather weekender bag, and a scale model, making it a comprehensive collector's package.
Distinguishing Features and Design Elements of the Special Edition
The Earls Court 51 Edition is based on the potent 911 GT3, equipped with the Touring Package, which replaces the standard GT3's fixed rear wing with a more subtle, integrated design. The vehicle retains the GT3's impressive 502 horsepower. What truly distinguishes this edition are its unique aesthetic details: an exclusive Earls Court Green metallic paint, a direct homage to the original 356's color from 1951, and an interior adorned with a sophisticated blend of corduroy and leather in Night Green and Chalk Beige. A subtle embossed silhouette of a 356 is featured on the driver's door trim, accompanied by the phrase "driving in its purest form," echoing Porsche's early UK marketing campaigns. To further connect the past and present, Porsche has also restored a 1951 356 from its collection, mirroring the new edition's color scheme.
Strategic Expansion and Investment in the UK Market
Alongside the launch of this anniversary model, Porsche is undertaking a substantial investment initiative across its UK dealer network, which now comprises 49 sales and service centers. This includes significant upgrades to showrooms and workshops in Guildford and Bristol, along with the establishment of a new satellite facility in South Dublin. A new parts warehouse is currently under construction in Didcot, Oxfordshire, set to replace the existing Beenham site after two decades of operation. Furthermore, Porsche is committed to nurturing future talent through its apprenticeship program, training around 200 individuals in technician, parts, and service advisor roles at its Reading headquarters.
Porsche's Enduring Adaptability and Future Vision in the UK
Krishan Bodhani, CEO of Porsche Cars GB, emphasized the brand's continuous adaptation to evolving customer needs over seven decades. He highlighted recent additions to the UK market, such as the new 911 Turbo S and the upcoming Cayenne Electric, as testaments to this adaptability. Bodhani noted that a significant portion of recent investments has been directed towards enhancing parts supply and training, crucial for supporting an increasingly electrified vehicle lineup long after the initial sale. The brand's journey in the UK began with Charles Meisl's vision at the 1951 Earls Court debut, leading to the formation of Porsche Cars GB in 1965. From a single 356 model, Porsche's UK offering has expanded to six distinct product lines, encompassing gasoline, hybrid, and electric powertrains, showcasing a remarkable evolution driven by innovation and customer focus.
