Lucid Unveils High-Performance Gravity GT-S Electric SUV

Lucid Motors has launched a formidable contender in the electric SUV market with the unveiling of the Gravity GT-S. This new variant, offering an impressive blend of extreme performance and practical family utility, is poised to redefine expectations for luxury electric vehicles. It builds upon the innovative foundation of the Gravity lineup, integrating advanced technological features and distinctive design elements that set it apart.
Introducing the Powerhouse: Lucid Gravity GT-S
Lucid Motors has officially introduced the Gravity GT-S, a high-performance iteration of its forthcoming three-row electric SUV. Taking inspiration from the acclaimed Air Sapphire sedan, this new model is designed to be the most potent offering within the Gravity series. The vehicle is set to make its public debut at the prestigious Monterey Car Week, showcased prominently in the Concours Village at Pebble Beach, before it becomes available to consumers across the United States.
Under the hood, the Gravity GT-S is equipped with Lucid's advanced dual-motor electric powertrain, delivering a staggering 1,070 horsepower. This immense power enables the SUV to achieve an acceleration of 0 to 60 miles per hour in a mere 3.1 seconds, establishing it as the most powerful three-row SUV currently available in the American market. The GT-S comes standard with Lucid's innovative Dynamic Handling Package, which includes independent rear-wheel steering and an adaptive three-chamber air suspension system. This sophisticated suspension can dynamically adjust the vehicle's height at higher speeds, enhancing both stability and ride comfort while simultaneously improving aerodynamic efficiency.
Inside, the Gravity GT-S maintains the familiar spacious layout of the Gravity line, offering comfortable seating for up to seven adults and ample cargo capacity. Lucid integrates its proprietary software and electronics platform, first seen in the Air sedan, to ensure a cohesive and intuitive technological experience across its vehicle range. This strategic move aims to create a unified user interface, streamlining the interaction between driver and vehicle. The broader Gravity family was previously previewed with the Gravity X concept, and the base SUV's specifications have been comprehensively detailed in Lucid's model overview.
Derek Jenkins, Lucid's Chief Creative Officer, emphasized that the GT-S is engineered to push the boundaries of the Gravity's performance capabilities without compromising its daily usability. He stated, “With Lucid Gravity GT-S, we've created a more expressive and exhilarating interpretation of the Gravity SUV, combining extraordinary performance with the comfort, space, and versatility that define Gravity, delivering an exceptional experience for our customers that is uniquely Lucid.”
Visually, the Gravity GT-S distinguishes itself with striking blue exterior accents and blue-painted brake calipers. The interior features the luxurious Mojave PurLuxe Premium package, characterized by elegant blue stitching and piping on the first and second rows, blue seatbelts, and blue stitching on the steering wheel, door armrests, and front center armrest. Further enhancing its unique identity are a blue steering wheel marker and the Lucid Bear logo embossed on the front headrests. Prospective buyers can explore the full range of standard and optional equipment for the Gravity GT-S through Lucid's online configurator. A Tahoe leather interior is available for an additional $1,300. The starting price for the GT-S in the U.S. is $125,900, with an additional $1,850 for destination and delivery charges, bringing the total initial cost to $129,050 before taxes, title, licensing, and documentation fees.
The debut of the Gravity GT-S at Monterey Car Week, alongside the Lucid Air Sapphire, signifies Lucid's ongoing commitment to expanding its performance-oriented lineup. As the brand prepares for the market launch of its 2027 Gravity family, the GT-S positions itself at the pinnacle of the Lucid range, blending raw power with refined luxury and practicality.
The introduction of the Lucid Gravity GT-S marks a significant moment for the electric vehicle industry, particularly in the SUV segment. It challenges the conventional notion that high-performance must come at the expense of practicality, offering a compelling package that caters to both speed enthusiasts and families alike. This vehicle embodies the potential of electric technology to deliver exhilarating driving experiences without sacrificing space or comfort. However, the true test of its market impact will depend on factors such as real-world driving range, the final cost implications of its various options, overall build quality, and Lucid's commitment to supporting its customers post-purchase. This launch prompts us to consider how quickly electric vehicles are evolving to meet diverse consumer needs, blurring the lines between luxury, performance, and everyday functionality. It also highlights the increasing competitiveness within the premium EV sector, pushing manufacturers to innovate and differentiate their offerings.
