Kia is making strides in the electric commercial vehicle sector with the introduction of its latest offering, the 2027 PV7 electric van. This new model builds upon the foundation laid by the PV5, which premiered earlier in 2025, and is designed to provide greater capacity and versatility. The PV7 showcases impressive specifications, including an extended driving range and powerful output, while also integrating advanced technological features to enhance both driver experience and fleet management efficiency.

At the prestigious IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition in Hannover, Germany, Kia officially presented the PV7, marking it as the second vehicle in its innovative Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) series. Following the earlier debut of the PV5 in 2025, the PV7 arrives as a larger and more robust solution for the burgeoning electric commercial vehicle market. This vehicle is designed to be exclusively electric, built upon the flexible E-GMP.S platform, which promises a flat floor design to maximize interior space and facilitate future modifications and variants.
The PV7 will be available in both Cargo and Passenger models, offering a choice between a 72-kWh or a 96-kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese battery, ensuring ample power for diverse operational needs. Initially, the van will feature a front-wheel-drive system, with plans to introduce an all-wheel-drive option at a later date. Performance-wise, the PV7 boasts a maximum output of 268 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque, though specific figures may vary based on market and configuration requirements. The Long Range Cargo variant is expected to achieve an impressive 285 miles on a single charge according to the European WLTP test cycle, which would translate to approximately 240 miles under EPA standards. Its 800-volt architecture allows for rapid charging, with an estimated 10% to 80% charge in around 25 minutes using a DC fast charger. The vehicle is equipped with dual charging ports—a front AC/DC port and an optional rear AC port—and supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, enabling users to power external equipment directly from the van's battery.
Aesthetically, the PV7 adopts a modern, futuristic design, characterized by sleek, thin daytime running lights integrated into a glossy black front panel, mirroring the styling of the PV5. Its upright front fascia, complemented by blocky bumper trim that discreetly houses the main headlights, gives it a distinctive presence. The van also features pronounced wheel arches and prominent vertical taillights, contributing to its contemporary look.
The PV7 Cargo, measuring 210.6 inches in its Long configuration, offers seating options for two or three passengers. Its storage capacity is substantial, with up to 215 cubic feet in the Cargo Long version and an expanded 282 cubic feet in the Cargo High Roof variant. A payload capacity of 2568 pounds for the Long model, coupled with a dedicated heavy-load drive mode, highlights its utility. Customers can choose between a twin-swing tailgate or a lift-up tailgate for optimal loading flexibility. The PV7 Passenger version shares similar dimensions but can accommodate nine seats, with an 11-seat option available in Korea.
Inside, the cabin is designed for functionality and ease of use, featuring a large 14.6-inch touchscreen on the dashboard and a concise digital gauge cluster behind the steering wheel. Physical buttons are retained for essential controls like the climate system, ensuring intuitive operation. The PV7 integrates the new Pleos Connect system, powered by Android Automotive OS, which offers a smartphone-like interface, flexible screen layouts, and an open app marketplace. Additionally, the Gleo AI voice assistant facilitates control over vehicle, navigation, and messaging functions.
For fleet managers, the Kia Business Solutions Portal provides comprehensive tools for managing charging, maintenance, and daily operations. Kia’s Uptime services further support fleet efficiency through real-time monitoring and predictive diagnostics, aiming to minimize downtime and maintenance burdens. The PV7 is slated for release in South Korea and Europe in 2027, with plans for expansion into additional markets thereafter. Kia intends to broaden the PV7 lineup to 23 variants, including Compact Cargo and Passenger models, a Chassis Cab variant, and numerous conversion options. Production will take place at the Hwaseong factory in South Korea, alongside the PV5. Looking ahead, Kia also anticipates launching an even larger PV9 model in 2029, while the future of the smaller PV1, previously showcased in 2024, remains uncertain.
