Jennerstown Speedway's Thrilling Race Night Delights Fans

On June 7, Jennerstown Speedway Complex welcomed fans for Children’s Hospital Night, featuring six competitive racing divisions. Among the highlights was Cameron Ruggles securing his second victory of the season in the Somerset Trust Fast and Furious 4s, dominating all 15 laps while fending off Noah Hirko. Meanwhile, Aaron Van Fleet triumphed in the One Stop Auto Sales Pro Stock race after overtaking Josh Dunmyer with four laps remaining. Jeff Giles celebrated his first-ever Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modified win in dramatic fashion, leading every lap despite a fierce challenge from Tom Golik. Carley Awtey also claimed her initial victory of the season in a tumultuous Integrity Coatings Chargers event. Additionally, Will Hemminger dominated the Martella’s Pharmacies Late Model feature, leading all 50 laps, and Richard Meehleib Jr. secured another Street Stocks win.
In an action-packed evening at Jennerstown Speedway Complex, the Somerset Trust Fast and Furious 4s saw Virginia-based driver Cameron Ruggles clinch his second seasonal victory by steering clear of Noah Hirko throughout all 15 laps. The competition was intense as Johnathan Haburcsak rounded out the podium positions in third place. Another standout performance came from Aaron Van Fleet in the One Stop Auto Sales Pro Stock race, where he seized the lead from Josh Dunmyer just before the final stretch to secure his second win of the year. Dunmyer had earlier taken over from Chris Brink but ultimately couldn't fend off Van Fleet, the defending champion in this division.
Jeff Giles achieved a significant milestone by capturing his first career Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modified triumph in exhilarating fashion. Starting from pole position, Giles led every lap but faced relentless pressure from reigning champion Tom Golik, who pushed hard alongside him during the closing stages. Despite Golik's best efforts, Giles maintained control to secure his first win in any division in two years, previously having competed in Pro Stock races. Doug Glessner completed the top three finishers in what turned out to be a fiercely contested five-car feature.
Carley Awtey added her name to the winners' list in the caution-filled Integrity Coatings Chargers 20-lap feature. After leading the opening eight laps, she lost ground temporarily when Nick Niemiec and Cash Shaulis moved into first and second places respectively. However, multiple cautions reshuffled the field significantly. On one restart, Niemiec and Shaulis tangled, allowing Awtey and fiance Aaron Luteri to reclaim front-row positions. With each subsequent restart, Awtey demonstrated unwavering determination, eventually crossing the finish line ahead of Erik Mauzy and Ken Burkholder.
The Martella’s Pharmacies Late Model feature provided further excitement as Will Hemminger showcased exceptional skill by leading all 50 laps without facing serious challenges. Rookie R.J. Dallape made a valiant attempt late in the race, passing veteran Barry Awtey for second place, though time ran out before he could mount a challenge against Hemminger. In the concluding race of the night, Richard Meehleib Jr. captured his second Street Stocks victory by capitalizing on a strategic pass around his father Rick Meehleib during the restart following Casey Fleegle's broken drive shaft. John Fama narrowly edged Andrew Kostelnik for third place, adding yet another thrilling chapter to the evening's events.
This unforgettable night at Jennerstown Speedway Complex not only honored Children’s Hospital but also delivered memorable performances across all six racing divisions. Drivers like Cameron Ruggles, Aaron Van Fleet, Jeff Giles, Carley Awtey, Will Hemminger, and Richard Meehleib Jr. demonstrated their prowess, delighting spectators with their competitive spirit and driving excellence. The diverse range of races ensured something for everyone, cementing the event as a highlight of the season thus far.
