IONNA Rapidly Expands EV Charging Network, Offers Discounts

IONNA, a prominent DC fast-charging entity, has announced a substantial increase in its operational sites across the United States, now exceeding 180 locations. This expansion is accompanied by a new incentive program, offering charging cost reductions to electric vehicle owners affiliated with four of its foundational automotive manufacturers.
The network, supported by a consortium of carmakers, employs Alpitronic hardware and proprietary software, reporting a more than twofold growth in its operational footprint since early 2026. It now stands as the nation’s largest 400 kW charging infrastructure.
Expanding Charging Infrastructure and Strategic Partnerships
IONNA's aggressive expansion strategy has seen a significant increase in its charging site count, cementing its position as a major player in the electric vehicle charging landscape. The company’s growth is not merely in numbers but also in the strategic placement of its “Rechargeries,” many of which are located at convenient retail points, enhancing accessibility for EV drivers.
The company has notably expanded its presence through a partnership with Circle K, integrating over 40 new Rechargeries at their convenience store locations since April. This collaboration is part of a broader plan to install IONNA charging facilities at more than 350 Circle K sites, including upgrading approximately 85 existing fast-charging stations. These new installations are equipped with 400 kW chargers supporting both NACS and CCS connectors, catering to a diverse range of electric vehicles.
Enhanced User Experience and Future Innovations
IONNA is dedicated to improving the electric vehicle charging experience by offering seamless payment solutions and engaging directly with the EV community. The introduction of discounts and the development of user-friendly platforms are key components of their strategy to foster widespread EV adoption and satisfaction.
As of October 1, Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz have joined BMW in providing a 10% charging discount to their customers via automaker-specific apps and Plug & Charge functionality, with other founding automakers expected to follow suit. Plug & Charge technology streamlines the charging process by automating authentication and payment upon connection, eliminating the need for separate charging applications. Furthermore, IONNA has broadened its compatibility by integrating with popular platforms like Presto, ChargeHub, and EV Connect, bringing its total supported partner apps to 19. This approach allows drivers to access the network through familiar interfaces, negating the requirement for a dedicated IONNA app. The company also emphasizes maintaining high service quality amidst its rapid growth, a commitment echoed by its top ranking in customer satisfaction surveys. To ensure continuous improvement, IONNA has established a Driver Advisory Council to gather feedback, and will deploy ambassadors to dealerships in early 2027 to educate staff on EV charging, thereby empowering potential buyers with crucial information.
