EVgo and GM's Advanced Charging Network Expands Rapidly

Pioneering the Future of Electric Vehicle Charging
EVgo's Network Expansion Milestones
EVgo has achieved a significant milestone in deploying its premier EV charging stations. The company is on track to have over 100 such high-capacity charging stalls operational nationwide before the close of the current year. These advanced stations are distinguished by their pull-through design, equipped with 350 kW power dispensers, protective overhead canopies, and direct access to essential amenities for drivers.
Detroit's New Flagship Charging Hub
The most recent flagship location, a collaborative effort between EVgo, General Motors, and Midwest retailer Meijer, has officially opened its doors in metropolitan Detroit. This cutting-edge facility boasts 12 high-powered charging stalls, supporting both CCS and NACS connectors. It provides a comprehensive charging solution, complemented by an overhead canopy for weather protection and convenient access to retail outlets and dining options.
Nationwide Presence and Future Growth
With the inauguration of this new, expansive charging site, EVgo now operates more than 40 flagship stalls across the country. The company projects substantial growth, aiming to surpass 100 flagship stalls by the end of the year. On average, each flagship station houses up to 20 individual charging points, each capable of delivering up to 350 kilowatts of power, mirroring the high-speed charging capabilities found throughout EVgo's broader network. While the flagship locations offer enhanced features like canopies and pull-through designs, the core technology is consistent with their other stations.
Strategic Geographic Expansion
EVgo's ambitious expansion strategy includes developing flagship stations in key states such as California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, and Texas. Beyond these specialized sites, EVgo's extensive network already encompasses 2,400 charging stalls spread across 1,200 stations in 32 states, a testament to its strong partnership with General Motors. Furthermore, a joint initiative involving EVgo, GM, and Pilot Company has established over 1,300 fast-charging stalls at 300 locations across 40 states.
Enhancing the EV Driver Experience
Dennis Kish, President of EVgo, emphasized the company's commitment to prioritizing the electric vehicle driver's experience. He stated that through their collaboration with General Motors, they are effectively integrating advanced charging infrastructure into the daily lives of EV drivers, making the transition to electric mobility seamless and convenient. This focus on customer satisfaction is crucial as more American consumers opt for electric vehicles.
Broadening Partnerships and Technology Adoption
In addition to its ongoing partnerships with General Motors and Pilot Company, EVgo has recently broadened its alliance with Brixmore, a commercial real estate developer. This expanded agreement aims to install at least 500 new DC fast-charging stalls at shopping centers nationwide. Looking ahead, EVgo is also set to implement Tesla Superchargers, which will deliver an impressive 500 kW of power, commencing this autumn. These strategic moves underscore EVgo's dedication to advancing charging technology and expanding its reach through diverse collaborations.
