Car show to benefit Humane Society as shelter faces capacity challenges

Unleashing Compassion: The Humane Society of Somerset County's Fast and Furriest Car Show

The Humane Society of Somerset County (HSSC) is gearing up for one of its most anticipated annual events, the Fast and Furriest Car Show. This signature fundraiser not only showcases the community's passion for automobiles but also supports the shelter's vital mission of finding loving homes for stray and unwanted pets. As the event approaches, the HSSC is preparing to welcome car enthusiasts and animal lovers alike to this celebration of horsepower and heart.

Driving Towards a Brighter Future for Shelter Pets

A Showcase of Automotive Artistry

The Fast and Furriest Car Show promises to be a captivating display of automotive excellence. Hosted at Memorial Highway Chevrolet of Somerset, the event will feature a diverse array of classic cars, muscle cars, and custom-built marvels. The first 100 registered vehicles will receive a special dash plaque, a goodie bag, and a commemorative t-shirt, adding to the excitement and exclusivity of the occasion. Trophies will be awarded in various categories, recognizing the exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail that have gone into these beloved automobiles.

A Harmonious Blend of Music and Cuisine

The event will be further enlivened by the lively sounds of live music, courtesy of DJ Almost Heaven and the talented band, The Vandells. As attendees admire the gleaming vehicles on display, they can indulge in delectable offerings from Pappy D's food truck, ensuring a well-rounded experience that caters to both the senses and the palate.

Donations for a Cause

The Fast and Furriest Car Show is not just a celebration of automotive passion; it is also a platform to support the Humane Society of Somerset County's vital work. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of pet food, treats, cleaning supplies, and other essential items to help the shelter maintain its operations and continue providing care for the animals in its charge.

Addressing the Challenges of Animal Overpopulation

The HSSC, like many other shelters across the country, has faced a surge in animal intake this year, leading to near-capacity levels. As a no-kill shelter, the organization is committed to never euthanizing animals due to space constraints, which further strains its resources. The staff and board of the HSSC emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering pets to help reduce the issue of overpopulation, urging pet owners in Somerset County to take this responsible step.

Adopting Furry Friends

The Fast and Furriest Car Show presents a unique opportunity for individuals and families seeking to add a new furry member to their household. The HSSC encourages prospective adopters to contact the shelter in advance to schedule an appointment and complete the necessary adoption application. By doing so, they can ensure a seamless process and take their new companion home the same day they visit the shelter.

A Beacon of Hope for Shelter Pets

The Humane Society of Somerset County's dedication to finding loving homes for stray and unwanted pets is truly inspiring. Through events like the Fast and Furriest Car Show, the organization not only raises crucial funds to support its operations but also raises awareness about the importance of animal welfare and the joys of pet adoption. By embracing the community's passion for cars and its compassion for animals, the HSSC is poised to make a lasting impact on the lives of countless four-legged friends.
