While the automaker initially pledged to phase out combustion engines entirely by 2030, a revised outlook in 2024, influenced by a slower-than-anticipated growth in EV sales, particularly in the U.S., has led Volvo to reinforce its commitment to plug-in hybrids. They will continue to feature standard all-wheel drive and a combined output of 455 horsepower. Volvo has confirmed that despite the doubled battery capacity, charging times will remain efficient: under six hours on a Level 2 charger and approximately four hours with a more powerful 16-amp home charger.

The XC60, Volvo's global and U.S. best-seller, will also receive a subtle facelift, featuring a sleeker front end with a more refined grille and chiseled headlamps, along with updated Thor's hammer daytime running lights.
