It was discovered that nearly 80% of respondents noted a considerable delay in replacing engine timing belts as per the manufacturer's recommendations. This essential component, costing around £600 to replace, plays a pivotal role in engine functionality. Another critical aspect frequently overlooked involves changing engine oil and filters between annual services, priced at approximately £150. Over half of surveyed repairers mentioned that customers are putting off tire replacements, which typically cost £94 per tire or under £400 for a full set. Additionally, almost half of the repairers observed clients delaying leak repairs, which can be resolved for about £355. Lastly, 39% of repairers cited neglect in changing brake pads, averaging £266 per set.
