Haas was reading late into the night when he heard an unusual noise, which he initially mistook for someone breaking into his car. Upon investigation, he was met with a terrifying sight—a wall of flames outside his kitchen window. The fire had already damaged the fence between the two properties and shattered his kitchen window. Panicked but quick-thinking, Haas called 911 immediately. Within moments, firefighters arrived and successfully prevented the blaze from engulfing his home. "I was relieved that my house didn't catch fire," Haas reflected. "But my main concern was ensuring everyone got out safely."
