Toyota Debuts Five New Woodland Off-Road Concepts, Including Electric bZ SUV

Toyota has introduced an exciting array of five new "Woodland" concept vehicles, each boasting enhanced off-road capabilities. This fresh lineup includes modified versions of the RAV4, Grand Highlander, Sienna, Crown Signia, and notably, the all-electric bZ SUV, signaling the automaker's ambitious push into the adventure vehicle market.
In a strategic move to capitalize on the booming demand for off-road vehicles in the United States, Toyota is significantly expanding its specialized "Woodland" series. While dedicated Woodland editions of popular models like the RAV4, Sienna, bZ, and the recently added Grand Highlander are already available, these new concept vehicles represent a forward-thinking exploration. Developed by CALTY Design Research, Toyota's North American design studio, these concepts aim to redefine how core models can perform both on and off challenging terrains, catering to drivers who view adventure as an integral part of their lifestyle.
Each of these innovative concepts is finished in a unique Horizon Blue exterior, a color choice inspired by iconic Toyota models from the 1960s, such as the Stout, Crown, and Corona. Beyond the distinct color, these vehicles are outfitted with a range of rugged features. This includes a proprietary Woodland badge, a specialized lift kit for increased ground clearance, robust over-fenders, sleek satin-black wheels, and durable all-terrain tires. Further enhancing their adventurous appeal are a two-tone paint scheme on the roof and hood, a practical roof rack, and cross bars, ensuring they are fully equipped for any journey.
Toyota emphasizes that the RAV4 Woodland Plug-In Hybrid and Sienna Woodland Concepts demonstrate how the brand's electrified and family-oriented vehicles can embrace a more adventurous persona. The electric Woodland bZ Concept is particularly significant, extending the core Woodland design philosophy into Toyota's rapidly evolving battery-electric vehicle future. Additionally, the Grand Highlander Woodland Concept and Crown Signia Woodland Concept introduce distinct new models to this expanding lineup, offering a broader range of choices for adventure-seeking consumers.
While comprehensive powertrain specifications for the entire concept series were not disclosed, Toyota highlighted that these vehicles exemplify how versatility can manifest across various propulsion types, including plug-in hybrid, conventional hybrid, and fully battery-electric systems. These innovative Woodland Concepts are slated for public display at the prestigious 2026 SEMA Show, commencing on November 3rd.
For example, the 2027 Toyota bZ Woodland model comes equipped standard with a potent dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, delivering a combined output of 375 horsepower. This represents a notable increase of 37 horsepower compared to the standard bZ model featuring AWD. The bZ Woodland also boasts enhanced off-road capabilities, including an impressive 8.3 inches of ground clearance and a substantial towing capacity of up to 3,500 lbs. Additional robust upgrades include all-terrain tires, protective black side molding, functional roof rails, and distinctive black wheel arch cladding. The 2027 Toyota bZ Woodland will be offered in Base and Premium trims, with prices starting from $45,380, which is approximately $10,000 more than the standard bZ variant.
