Stellantis Delays Jeep Grand Wagoneer EREV and Ram 1500 REV Production




Stellantis is facing significant production delays for two of its highly anticipated extended-range electric vehicles: the Jeep Grand Wagoneer EREV and the Ram 1500 REV. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer EREV, initially slated for a May launch, is now expected to begin production in November 2026 at the Warren Truck Plant. The Ram 1500 REV, experiencing an even more substantial postponement, will see its production start moved to April 2027, a nine-month delay from its original mid-2026 target. While Stellantis maintains that both vehicles are still on track for their respective launch years, these adjustments are reportedly due to issues with supplier schedules and the integration of a shared powertrain architecture.
The core of these delays lies in the development of a common 400-volt battery and electric motor system that both the Grand Wagoneer EREV and the Ram 1500 REV are designed to utilize. This shared hardware, while intended to streamline production and reduce costs, has become a bottleneck. Industry sources indicate that the extended timeline is necessary to refine and perfect this critical component, ensuring a smooth rollout for both models. The interconnected nature of their powertrains means that any hiccup in one program inevitably affects the other, especially given their reliance on a similar series-hybrid configuration.
These postponements place Stellantis in a challenging position within the competitive electric vehicle market. The Ram 1500 REV, in particular, will arrive later than several rival electric and extended-range pickups already available or coming soon. This delay could impact Stellantis's strategy, especially as the company is increasingly relying on its EREV offerings after scaling back previous plans for purely battery-electric vehicles.
