Reviving a Fan Favorite
Remembering the past, the last Honda Preludes sold in the U.S. were fourth generation (1993 - 1996) models. Despite being fan favorites, Honda had to discontinue them due to declining sales and the high cost associated with maintaining its unique chassis. Just like the Accord Coupe and Acura Integra, the Prelude met its end in 2001. However, when Honda showcased the Prelude concept in 2023, it became clear that they were ready to make a strong comeback in the North American market.The 2026 production Prelude is expected to share much of Honda's DE5 platform that forms the basis of the 11th generation Civic and the 2024 Acura Integra. Even the proclaimed hybrid electric powertrain is likely to be a refined version of the ones found in the current hybrid Civics, Accords, and CR-Vs.
