Rivian R2: New Colors and Interior Options Unveiled

Rivian has broadened the customization possibilities for its R2 electric SUV, introducing a selection of new exterior hues and an additional interior scheme. These fresh options aim to provide prospective owners with greater personalization, enhancing the visual appeal and cabin ambiance of the mid-size electric vehicle.
Rivian R2's Enhanced Aesthetic Options and Pricing Details
In a recent announcement, Rivian has made available two striking new exterior colors for the R2 electric SUV: the profound Forest Green and the vibrant Borealis Purple. These additions join the existing palette, allowing customers to tailor their vehicle's appearance. The Forest Green shade, priced at an additional $1,500, mimics the deep, varied greens of a forest canopy, incorporating metallic flakes to create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Borealis Purple, a premium option at $2,000, is exclusively offered on the high-performance variant of the R2. Other premium colors in the $2,000 category include Midnight Black and Catalina Cove Blue, alongside the distinct Launch Green. Glacier White is available for $1,000, while Esker Silver remains the no-cost standard option.
Complementing the exterior updates, Rivian has also unveiled a new Coastal Cloud Signature interior. This lighter, airier cabin theme contrasts with the more conventional Black Crater Signature interior, providing a sense of openness. Crafted from second-generation Advantex material, the Coastal Cloud interior promises both aesthetic appeal and robust durability, capable of withstanding the rigors of adventurous journeys. This lighter interior option is limited to the Premium and Performance R2 models.
Currently, the Rivian R2 is exclusively available in its Performance Launch Edition, which commands a starting price of $59,485. This model boasts a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration, delivering an impressive 656 horsepower and an EPA-estimated range of 330 miles. The Launch Edition also includes a Tow Package, a specialized Launch key fob, and perpetual access to Rivian’s advanced driver-assistance platform, Autonomy+. Later this year, the Premium trim, priced from $55,485, will become available, offering the same range but with 450 horsepower. The Tow Package and Autonomy+ will be optional extras for this trim. Looking ahead to next summer, the entry-level R2 Standard Rear-Wheel Drive is slated for release, starting at $46,485, with an estimated range of 275 miles and 350 horsepower.
The introduction of these new aesthetic choices for the Rivian R2 underscores the growing trend in the automotive industry towards greater personalization, even within the burgeoning electric vehicle segment. By offering distinctive color and interior options, Rivian is not merely selling a mode of transport but an extension of the owner's individual style and commitment to sustainable living. This move could potentially attract a broader demographic of buyers who prioritize both environmental consciousness and unique design in their vehicle choices. It also highlights Rivian's dedication to continuously evolving its product line, ensuring that its electric SUVs remain competitive and appealing in an increasingly crowded market.
