Starting from a Pontiac Tempest Convertible, the team invested more than 5,500 hours to meticulously widen the body by five inches, ensuring the classic proportions of the '65 GTO were not only preserved but enhanced. This intricate process involved reshaping the front fenders, elongating the rocker panels, and broadening the rear quarters. The co-founder, Jim Ring, emphasized the challenge of subtly integrating these changes to make them appear factory-designed. The exterior is further distinguished by significant use of carbon fiber, including the hood with an enlarged scoop and functional vents, front wheel tubs, lower front valance, and rear diffuser, all contributing to both weight reduction and aesthetic appeal. Custom bumpers, redesigned headlight surrounds, and a unique one-piece aluminum taillight panel, complemented by a striking custom Billie Goat Blue finish with polished chrome accents, complete the exterior transformation, underscoring a blend of classic design and modern high-performance elements.

Beneath its stunning exterior, the GTO is equipped with a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine sourced from Wegner Motorsports, an engine renowned for its power in various General Motors models, such as the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. This powerplant delivers an impressive 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, channeled through a Bowler Performance 10-speed automatic transmission for seamless power delivery. The vehicle's performance is further augmented by a custom exhaust system featuring Flowmaster components, enhancing its auditory presence. To manage this immense power, the GTO incorporates Fox RS SV coilovers and a Fast Track Stage III chassis, providing superior handling and ride dynamics. Braking duties are handled by high-performance Brembo brakes, fitted with six-piston calipers at both the front and rear, ensuring exceptional stopping power. The car rides on staggered 19- and 20-inch HRE G-code wheels, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, combining aggressive aesthetics with optimal grip and performance. This comprehensive suite of modifications transforms the classic Pontiac into a modern performance marvel, capable of dominating both the show floor and the road.

Luxurious and Technologically Advanced Interior

The interior of the Ringbrothers' custom 1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible, "Billie," received a comprehensive overhaul, blending classic design with modern functionality and comfort. The team meticulously reconfigured the cabin by repositioning the dashboard four inches forward and two inches lower, optimizing both aesthetics and ergonomics. This redesigned dash features custom aluminum trim, adding a touch of bespoke luxury. State-of-the-art Dakota Digital instruments replace the original gauges, offering precise and clear readings while maintaining a classic look. For enhanced comfort and convenience, Vintage Air climate controls have been integrated, allowing occupants to easily regulate the cabin temperature. A modern auto-dimming rearview mirror improves visibility and reduces glare. These thoughtful upgrades ensure that the interior is not only visually appealing but also highly functional for contemporary driving. The addition of a "Raised by Ringbrothers" plaque on the dash serves as a subtle yet significant emblem of the car's unique heritage and meticulous craftsmanship.

Further enhancing the driving experience, the vehicle features a restored factory radio that has been upgraded with modern Bluetooth connectivity. This ingenious modification allows the driver to enjoy contemporary audio streaming and hands-free communication while preserving the authentic vintage appearance of the dashboard. Every aspect of the interior, from the choice of materials to the integration of technology, reflects Ringbrothers' commitment to delivering a premium and cohesive experience. The custom touches extend throughout the cabin, creating an environment that is both luxurious and practical. The combination of classic styling with discreetly integrated modern amenities ensures that "Billie" offers a comfortable and engaging interior, making it a truly exceptional custom build. The extensive work on the interior underscores the thoroughness of the Ringbrothers' approach, where no detail is too small to be perfected, resulting in a GTO that is as captivating inside as it is on the outside.

BMW's Electric Vehicles Bolster the Future of V8 Engines

BMW's strategic embrace of electric vehicles is unexpectedly safeguarding the longevity of its V8 combustion engines, a seemingly paradoxical yet crucial development for a brand celebrated for its dynamic, conventionally-powered automobiles. This approach is allowing the German automaker to navigate stringent emission regulations while continuing to offer powerful internal combustion options.

A significant factor in this dynamic is the strong performance of BMW's electric vehicle sales, particularly in markets like Australia, where EVs comprised nearly 20 percent of the company's total sales in 2025. This robust EV adoption is vital for complying with the country’s updated emissions standards, which evaluate a fleet’s average carbon dioxide output. By selling more electric vehicles, BMW effectively creates headroom to continue selling its high-performance V8 models without incurring penalties or needing to phase out popular models.

Vikram Pawah, the head of BMW Group Australia, highlighted this synergistic relationship, stating that the company can effectively balance different powertrain types. This philosophy, dubbed 'Power of Choice,' has been a cornerstone of BMW’s strategy for almost a decade. It underscores the brand’s commitment to offering a wide array of propulsion systems, ranging from traditional gasoline and diesel engines to plug-in hybrids and fully electric drivetrains. This flexibility enables BMW to cater to varied consumer preferences and adapt to evolving governmental environmental policies.

Beyond its existing portfolio, BMW continues to invest in future technologies, including hydrogen fuel cells. The company recently conducted extensive real-world testing of its iX5 Hydrogen vehicle, signaling its intent to further diversify its powertrain offerings. This holistic approach ensures that BMW remains competitive across different segments and future-proofs its lineup against potential regulatory shifts, ultimately providing consumers with an extensive choice of vehicles while preserving its legacy of performance-oriented engineering.

This innovative strategy by BMW highlights a forward-thinking solution to the challenges posed by environmental regulations and the shift towards electrification. By leveraging strong electric vehicle sales to offset the emissions of its more traditional, high-performance internal combustion engines, BMW maintains its market position and continues to appeal to a broad customer base. This balance not only extends the life of iconic V8 engines but also positions BMW as a leader in adapting to the automotive industry's transformative landscape, proving that innovation can indeed sustain tradition.

Used Electric Vehicle Values Now Exceed Gasoline Cars

The pre-owned electric vehicle sector has experienced a remarkable resurgence. Following a prolonged period of depreciation, particularly after the cessation of federal incentives, these vehicles are now appreciating in value, with many models being acquired more rapidly than comparable gasoline-powered cars.

Insights from a recent examination by iSeeCars reveal that the typical cost of a used electric car escalated by 9.8% between September 2025 and September 2026. This increase far surpasses the 4.9% rise observed for hybrid vehicles and significantly overshadows the mere 0.3% gain for internal combustion engine cars.

The study encompassed an extensive review of over 1.5 million pre-owned vehicles, ranging from one to five years in age. The data illustrates a clear shift: the average price for a used EV has reached $32,533, which is $579 more than the average gasoline car's price of $31,954. This reverses the trend seen in September 2025, when used EVs were approximately $2,227 less expensive. Hybrid models, however, maintain their position as the priciest segment, averaging $34,476.

Karl Brauer, an executive analyst at iSeeCars, attributes this shift primarily to elevated fuel prices, which have amplified the attractiveness of electrified vehicles. He further notes that the EV market has largely recovered from the instability in demand previously caused by the expiration of government incentives.

Beyond pricing, the speed at which used EVs are selling also highlights their growing appeal. In September, used electric vehicles spent an average of 41.9 days on the market, considerably less than the 54.8 days for gasoline cars and 48.6 days for hybrids. This demonstrates a nearly two-week faster sales cycle compared to traditional vehicles.

Certain EV models are particularly fast movers. The Audi Q4 Sportback E-Tron, Toyota bZ4X, and Lexus RZ 300e are among the quickest to sell, averaging 29.8, 33.3, and 34.3 days on the market, respectively. Generally, more compact and economically priced electric models tend to sell faster, while larger, more luxurious electric trucks and SUVs experience longer selling periods.

Tesla models are also demonstrating substantial price appreciation. The Model S, Model X, and Model 3 have recorded year-over-year price surges of 22.5%, 18%, and 15.4%. Currently, a used Model S commands an average price of $57,862, while the Model 3 is priced around $28,931.

The resurgence in used EV prices marks a pivotal moment. After initial declines during early 2026, including a 3.4% dip in March, prices began to climb in April and have now seen six consecutive months of year-over-year increases. This upward trajectory, coupled with faster sales rates, indicates a maturing and strengthening market for pre-owned electric vehicles, challenging previous perceptions about their depreciation.
