Regan Smith Returns to NASCAR Truck Series for Two Races with Kaulig Racing

Regan Smith, a seasoned figure in American stock car racing, is poised to re-enter the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series circuit. Having last competed in the series in 2017, Smith will participate in two upcoming races for Kaulig Racing. He is scheduled to drive the No. 25 RAM 1500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 17th and later at Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 9th. Interestingly, the announcement for the Charlotte race caught Smith by surprise, as he was only aware of his participation in the Bristol event while on broadcast for the New Hampshire Truck race.
Smith's extensive career includes 468 starts across NASCAR's top three national series, with his last appearance prior to this comeback being in 2019. A successful competitor at the secondary level, he secured six victories and finished as the championship runner-up in the 2014 NASCAR Xfinity Series. Furthermore, Smith boasts a significant triumph in the Cup Series, having won the prestigious 2011 Southern 500 at Darlington. Despite his numerous accolades, a victory in the Truck Series has eluded him, with his best performance in 36 starts being a fifth-place finish, alongside one top-five and seven top-ten placements. Kaulig Racing, in its inaugural Truck Series season with Ram, has utilized a rotating roster of notable drivers for its 'free-agent' truck, including prominent names such as Tony Stewart, Travis Pastrana, and AJ Allmendinger, whose sixth-place finish at Watkins Glen stands as the team's best result so far.
Smith's return to the track is a testament to his enduring passion for racing and his continuous pursuit of new challenges. His journey highlights the dedication required to compete at the highest levels of motorsport and offers an inspiring example of perseverance in striving for a long-sought-after victory. His experience and leadership will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to Kaulig Racing as they navigate their first season in the Truck Series, embodying the spirit of continuous improvement and competitive excellence.
