This sanction came after an unauthorized vehicle gained access to stage seven, proceeding against the designated direction of travel, and dangerously approaching a medical delegate's car, narrowly averting a collision.
The incident revealed a significant failure in the communication protocols, as the rally headquarters was not informed by the clerk of the course or the chief safety officer about the rogue vehicle. Instead, the initial alert originated from the FIA medical delegate. This oversight was acknowledged by the clerk of the course, who subsequently expressed regret for the lapse.
Emphasizing the critical importance of safety in rally competitions, event stewards underscored that effective communication is paramount. They reiterated that all marshals must promptly report any anomalies or deviations to rally control, particularly when stages are closed and the safety convoy is in operation.
