In March 2025, there was a significant increase of 26.3% in the sales of electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles in Mexico compared to March 2024. Mexico City leads in green car sales with 8,427 units sold, followed by the State of Mexico with 4,746 units, Nuevo Leon with 3,401 units, Jalisco with 2,685 units, and Guanajuato with 1,526 units. Together, these top five states represent 58% of all hybrid, electric, and plug-in vehicle sales nationwide. From January to March 2025, AMIA reported that 57,601 electric and hybrid vehicles were manufactured in Mexico, representing a remarkable 179% increase compared to the same period in 2024 when production stood at 20,676 units. By the end of 2024, the industry had produced 169,929 units, up significantly from 106,527 cars the previous year.
