Texoma Medical Center hosts first annual car show to benefit Grayson County United Way

Cruisin' Texoma: A Community Celebration of Automotive Passion

In the heart of Denison, Texas, the first annual Cruisin' Texoma car show at Texoma Medical Center (TMC) was a resounding success, drawing in car enthusiasts and community members alike. The event, which started as an employee initiative, quickly blossomed into a vibrant celebration of the region's automotive culture, showcasing a diverse array of classic cars, modern marvels, and everything in between.

Revving Up the Community Spirit

A Passion-Fueled Inspiration

The idea for the Cruisin' Texoma car show was sparked by the CEO of Texoma Medical Center, who happens to be the proud owner of a 1969 Camaro. This personal connection to the automotive world inspired the HR Specialist, Kyndal Hoffman, to turn the event into a community-wide celebration. "Our CEO actually has a 1969 Camaro, so that was the inspiration," Hoffman explained. "He loves cars, I love cars, and we thought, 'Let's make this for the community, let's get the community involved with TMC and what we've got going on out here.'"

Bringing the Community Together

The Cruisin' Texoma car show was more than just a display of automotive excellence; it was a platform for the community to come together and connect. By offering a unique entry fee of canned food donations, the organizers ensured that the event was accessible to all, while also supporting the local Grayson County United Way. "Instead of cash, it was cans of food — one per wheel," Hoffman said. "United Way has already taken it out and taken our canned goods to the food bank for the day and gotten those dispersed."

A Catalyst for Future Collaborations

The success of the Cruisin' Texoma car show has sparked a desire for even greater community involvement. Local car enthusiast Cynthia expressed her hope to start a local low-riders club, using the energy and momentum from the event to bring various car clubs together. "It's all cruising together, it's all about bringing every club together so we can be united," she said, highlighting the event's ability to foster a sense of unity and collaboration among the region's automotive enthusiasts.

An Annual Tradition in the Making

The organizers of the Cruisin' Texoma car show have already set their sights on the future, with plans to make it an annual event. "When we designed the shirt, we said 'put annual on there' because we're gonna do this every year," Hoffman revealed. "This is something we want to keep growing." The commitment to building upon the success of the inaugural event underscores the organizers' dedication to creating a lasting tradition that celebrates the community's passion for all things automotive.

A Driving Force for Community Engagement

The Cruisin' Texoma car show has proven to be more than just a display of automotive prowess; it has become a catalyst for community engagement and collaboration. By leveraging the shared passion for cars, the event has brought together diverse members of the Denison community, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie that extends beyond the boundaries of the car show itself. As the event continues to grow and evolve, it is poised to become a cherished tradition that celebrates the region's automotive heritage while strengthening the bonds that tie the community together.
