While the leading trio of Alex Palou, Scott McLaughlin, and Josef Newgarden chose to maintain their track positions, Rasmussen and his teammate Alexander Rossi made the bold decision to pit for fresh tires. Upon the resumption of racing on Lap 222, Rasmussen launched an aggressive charge from seventh place.
