Cruising into the Sunset: Main Street Duncan's Triumphant Car Show Celebration

As the warm summer months drew to a close, car enthusiasts in the Duncan, Oklahoma area gathered for a special event – the final Friday Night Cruise of the season, featuring a mini car show along Main Street. Despite a previous weather-related cancellation earlier in the year, the community came together to celebrate their shared passion for classic and custom vehicles, honoring the winners of various categories in a spirited awards ceremony.

Revving Up for a Memorable Finale

Embracing the Community's Automotive Enthusiasm

The Friday Night Cruise event on Main Street Duncan was a highly anticipated gathering for car enthusiasts in the region. Executive Director Brandi Johnson expressed her delight in seeing the community come together to support this unique event, despite the disappointment of the earlier April cancellation due to inclement weather. The mini car show provided a platform for local car owners to showcase their prized possessions and compete for a range of awards, fostering a sense of camaraderie and pride among the participants.

Enhancing the Aesthetic Appeal of Main Street

The car cruises hosted by Main Street Duncan serve a dual purpose – not only do they celebrate the community's automotive passion, but they also raise funds to support essential exterior updates for the downtown businesses. These improvements, such as lighting, paint, awnings, signage, and building repairs, are aimed at enhancing the overall aesthetic and appeal of the Main Street area. Through the façade grant program, the organization is committed to creating a more vibrant and inviting downtown district, attracting both locals and visitors alike.

The Best Family Duo award was presented to Larry and Blayden Foster for their '71 Chevy and '72 Chevy, sponsored by Endurance Federal Credit Union, highlighting the intergenerational passion for classic cars.

Honoring Automotive Artistry

The awards ceremony also recognized the exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail displayed by the participants. Nate Schacht's Porsche Cayman received the Best Paint Award, sponsored by Michel Collision Center, while Shan Files' '66 Chevy K10 was awarded the Best Engine, sponsored by Friends of Marcus McEntire. Randy and Janet Shirley's '65 VW Bus took home the Best Upholstery award, sponsored by Mr. Upholstery.

Celebrating the Motorcycle Community

The car show event also included a motorcycle category, showcasing the diverse range of two-wheeled machines that were on display. Randall Smith Jr.'s '02 Fat Boy won the Stock (Cruise, Sport) Award, sponsored by The Duncan Banner, while Landon Brown's '04 Harley Sportster took the Modified Cruiser, Sport category, sponsored by Hurley's Creative Tile Co. Gary Ramsey's '06 Ultra Classic earned the Bagger Award, sponsored by Starlite Welding, and Matthew Pierce's '03 Honda claimed the Minibike / Grom (300cc or under) category, sponsored by Hodges Photography. With the successful conclusion of the final Friday Night Cruise and car show event, Main Street Duncan has once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering a vibrant and engaging community, where car enthusiasts can come together to celebrate their shared passion and contribute to the ongoing revitalization of the downtown area.
