Marquez Leads German GP Practice, Ducati Shows Dominance

Marc Marquez demonstrated his prowess by topping the practice session for the German Grand Prix on Friday, as Ducati asserted its dominance with three riders in the top four. The session was a tightly contested affair, with Trackhouse Aprilia's Raul Fernandez providing a strong challenge, ultimately securing second place.
The hour-long practice commenced with Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia quickly setting a strong pace, surpassing Fernandez's initial benchmark. Bezzecchi consistently improved his lap times, maintaining a lead of over a tenth of a second ahead of Marc and Alex Marquez's Ducatis, with Fernandez in fourth.
The standings remained largely unchanged until the latter stages of the session. Bezzecchi further solidified his position by shaving off another tenth, extending his advantage. However, with just over fifteen minutes remaining, Fabio Di Giannantonio of VR46 elevated the performance, posting a remarkable 1m20.104s.
As the session neared its conclusion, Alex Marquez narrowed the gap to Bezzecchi on his Gresini Ducati. Marc Marquez then made a decisive move, becoming the first rider to break the 1m20s barrier, seizing the lead with 14 minutes left. Di Giannantonio briefly reclaimed the top spot with an even faster time, and Alex Marquez also improved, moving into second ahead of the reigning Sachsenring champion.
However, it was Marc Marquez who ultimately had the final say. His closing lap, executed with three minutes remaining, propelled him to the fastest time, a tenth and a half clear of his closest competitor. Raul Fernandez secured second place with a late surge, followed by Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez in third and fourth, respectively.
Jack Miller of Pramac Yamaha delivered an impressive performance, securing the fifth-fastest time, outpacing three Aprilia riders: Ai Ogura, Bezzecchi, and Jorge Martin. Pedro Acosta, riding for factory KTM, finished a distant ninth, six-tenths off the lead. Franco Morbidelli of VR46 made a last-minute leap into tenth, guaranteeing him a direct entry into Q2. Notably, Francesco Bagnaia, a two-time MotoGP champion, was a prominent rider to miss the top ten, finishing thirteenth behind KTM's Enea Bastianini and Brad Binder. A late yellow flag caused by Bastianini's crash at Turn 9 may have disrupted Bagnaia's momentum, though the track was cleared in time for the final flying laps. Luca Marini, on a Honda, finished fourteenth, just ahead of Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo, who was a mere 0.004 seconds behind. Joan Mir, Marini's teammate, finished sixteenth after a late incident.
