Lexus IS 2027 Special Edition Unveiled with Unique Green Finish and Advanced Features

Lexus is refreshing its enduring IS sedan with a new Special Appearance Package for the 2027 model year, demonstrating a continued commitment to the third-generation vehicle. Despite its age, the IS receives a vibrant update, featuring an exclusive "Envious" green paint scheme and specialized interior accents. This limited-edition release, based on the IS 350 F Sport, incorporates both aesthetic and technological enhancements to appeal to a discerning market.
The 2027 Lexus IS Special Appearance Package, built upon the IS 350 F Sport variant, stands out with its distinctive "Envious" green exterior finish. This unique color extends to the interior, where green stitching adorns the NuLuxe artificial leather seats, creating a cohesive and luxurious cabin ambiance. Performance is also a highlight, with the inclusion of 19-inch forged BBS wheels and the standard Handling Package. This package notably features adaptive suspension, allowing for various driving modes, and a Torsen limited-slip differential for rear-wheel-drive configurations, enhancing both comfort and dynamic capability.
Beyond visual and performance upgrades, the Special Appearance Package integrates a comprehensive Technology Package. This suite of advanced driver-assistance systems includes Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, and Front Cross-Traffic Alert, providing an elevated level of safety and convenience. Furthermore, premium amenities such as a moonroof, a power rear sunshade, a Mark Levinson sound system, and triple-beam LED headlights contribute to a refined driving experience.
Under the hood, the 2027 IS maintains its naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine, delivering a robust 311 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain can be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission for rear-wheel-drive models or a six-speed automatic for all-wheel-drive versions. This commitment to its traditional engine architecture highlights Lexus's dedication to enthusiasts of naturally aspirated performance, especially in an era increasingly dominated by forced induction and electrification.
Production of this exclusive model will be limited to just 350 units for the North American market, making it a rare offering. Lexus has a history of introducing Special Edition or Special Appearance Packages for the IS, with previous models like the 2026 IS 350 F Sport Special Appearance Package (priced at approximately $61,485 for RWD and $63,095 for AWD) featuring Hakugin Matte White paint. The pricing for the 2027 model is anticipated to be released closer to its dealership arrival later this year.
Lexus's decision to continue evolving the IS with special editions underscores the sedan's enduring appeal in a competitive segment. While a complete redesign remains a topic of speculation, these carefully crafted packages inject new life into the current generation, blending sophisticated aesthetics with advanced technology and retaining a cherished powertrain. This approach allows the IS to maintain its relevance, providing a compelling option for buyers seeking a distinct and well-equipped luxury sports sedan.
