KTM is reportedly considering the immediate termination of Maverick Vinales' contract with its Tech3 team, a move that could see him replaced by Pol Espargaro as early as the upcoming British Grand Prix. This development follows a period of escalating friction between Vinales and the team's leadership, further complicated by a persistent injury and a contentious contractual situation regarding his future within the KTM racing structure.

The underlying issues trace back to a shoulder injury Vinales sustained in a crash last July at Sachsenring. While this injury has undoubtedly impacted his performance, the current crisis has been exacerbated by significant disagreements with Tech3's new CEO, Guenther Steiner. Vinales had initially committed to Tech3 for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, with an understanding that strong performances in 2025 could lead to a promotion to KTM's factory team. However, Vinales expressed his disillusionment, stating, “In the winter I was in the factory team, now I don't even know where I am,” following the Czech Grand Prix.

The situation intensified when KTM reportedly sent Vinales a contract which he signed, only to be informed two weeks later that it was invalid. This contractual upheaval, coupled with the factory team's subsequent signings of Alex Marquez and Fabio di Giannantonio, left Vinales feeling marginalized and uncertain about his future in MotoGP. His frustration was palpable when he declared, "If I don't continue in MotoGP, there is only one culprit: KTM."

Tech3 CEO Guenther Steiner hinted at the team's desire for a fresh start, noting, “We don't want any kind of baggage from the past and, therefore, perhaps people who were associated with the group, not only with Tech3 and KTM, but with the group in general, don't fit.” This sentiment also implicitly affected Brad Binder's situation.
