Kia Teases Larger Electric Van, the PV7, for Commercial Segment Debut

Kia has provided an initial glimpse of its upcoming all-electric commercial vehicle, the PV7, marking the second addition to its innovative Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) series. This larger electric van is poised to make its global introduction at the IAA Transportation event in Hanover, Germany, on September 14, 2026. Designed to significantly expand Kia's presence in the light commercial vehicle sector, the PV7 promises increased interior volume and enhanced capabilities compared to its smaller sibling, the PV5, aiming to meet a wider spectrum of business and leisure demands.
The new PV7, built upon Kia's advanced E-GMP.S dedicated electric platform, showcases a unique 'one-box' structural design. Teaser visuals highlight its balanced proportions and a commanding presence, suggesting a vehicle engineered for both practicality and aesthetic appeal. Key design elements include a contrasting black finish on the hood and pillar trim, which sharply offsets the main body color. These design cues are consistent with Kia's evolving visual identity across its electric vehicle range, featuring signature lighting elements that reinforce the distinctiveness of the PBV lineup.
The E-GMP.S platform is a foundational technology for Kia's electric future, already underpinning the PV5. The debut of the PV7 further demonstrates the versatility and scalability of this architecture, enabling the creation of diverse body styles and configurations from a single technical base. At the Hanover exhibition, Kia will also present several variants derived from the PV5, such as the PV5 Crew Van and the PV5 Chassis Cab, catering specifically to fleet operations.
Kia's strategic vision for its PBV lineup, with the PV7 at its forefront, is to progressively enhance its electric mobility solutions for commercial clients. This initiative runs in parallel with other electric ventures, including the compact Kia EV2, which was recently introduced at the Brussels Motor Show. While Kia continues to diversify its electric offerings, the PV7 is currently the only model announced that specifically targets the light commercial vehicle segment, positioned above the PV5 in terms of size and utility.
The PV7 is set to bolster Kia's market position in the burgeoning electric van sector, offering a more spacious and adaptable option than the PV5. With its bespoke electric platform and adaptable PBV framework, the PV7 is expected to emerge as a formidable contender for both commercial and personal use, even as more detailed specifications are yet to be revealed.
