Janus Electric, an Australian innovator, has secured substantial orders to transform numerous heavy-duty diesel trucks into state-of-the-art battery-exchange electric vehicles. This initiative is bolstered by incentive schemes, offering considerable financial advantages to fleet operators opting for these eco-friendly upgrades. The orders, totaling 67 Class 8 heavy-duty freight and drayage trucks, were placed by prominent companies including Golden State Express, WEHACO, Tradelink Transport, and King Fio Trucking. This significant commitment also encompasses 77 interchangeable battery packs and four new "Janus Charge & Change" battery swap stations. Electric Vehicle Choice (EVC), a certified dealer for hybrid and zero-emission truck and bus voucher incentive projects (HVIP), is providing crucial support for these conversions. When HVIP vouchers are combined with additional support from the Port of Los Angeles, customers can receive up to $166,000 per truck conversion, making the transition financially attractive.

Ben Hutt, CEO and Managing Director at Janus Electric, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion of their U.S. customer base. He noted that the decision by these operators to adopt the Janus conversion and battery-swap platform serves as a vital endorsement of their technology. Hutt stated that the company's immediate focus is on scaling up production to fulfill these orders, converting the current order book into delivered vehicles, and establishing long-term recurring revenue streams.

Beyond these new orders, Janus Electric has 112 conversion projects underway across North America, with 87 in the U.S. and the remaining 25 in Canada. The company's Australian operations have already seen 25 converted trucks complete over 3,500 battery swaps, accumulating nearly 1,130,000 kWh of energy consumption and more than 600,000 kilometers (approximately 372,000 miles) driven. This extensive real-world data reinforces Janus Electric's claims that its battery-swap conversion technology is mature and ready for widespread adoption, providing tangible proof of concept for major manufacturers and fleets alike.

Pilot Company, a leading travel center operator, has significantly accelerated the expansion of its electric vehicle charging infrastructure, successfully surpassing 300 operational locations. This achievement highlights a rapid growth trajectory, with the network experiencing a 50% increase in site count within a single year. The widespread deployment of high-power charging stations across numerous states is set to improve convenience and accessibility for electric vehicle owners traversing North America's primary roadways.

As the largest travel center network across the continent, Pilot has made substantial progress in its initiative to equip the United States with efficient charging solutions for electric vehicles. The company now boasts more than 300 EV charging facilities spanning coast to coast, a remarkable surge from just over 200 sites recorded last September. This rapid growth underscores Pilot's commitment to supporting the evolving needs of electric vehicle motorists.

During the first half of the current year, Pilot introduced 50 new charging sites across 25 different states. The total number of locations now stands at 301, according to the company's official website. Additionally, the network supports Plug-and-Charge functionality, allowing compatible vehicles to initiate a charging session simply by plugging in, provided a payment method has been previously configured.

Sean Marrero, President of Retail at Pilot, emphasized the company's focus on investing in areas that enhance guest satisfaction and create appealing environments for both customers and staff. He stated, “Whether you're stopping for a charge, a full tank, or a fresh meal this summer, we are making the most of every mile for every traveler on the open road.” This year, new charging installations were completed in Chicopee, Massachusetts, and Ponce de Leon, Florida, alongside the modernization of 18 existing locations across 13 U.S. states and Canadian provinces.

The ambitious expansion is part of a larger collaboration initiated in 2022 between Pilot Company, GM Energy, and EVgo, which aims to deploy up to 2,000 fast chargers at as many as 500 Pilot and Flying J locations throughout the U.S. The initial stations became operational by the end of 2023, and the network rapidly expanded to over 130 stations in more than 25 states by March 2025. With its latest milestone, the travel center network has now officially reached over half of its ambitious charging infrastructure objective. Notably, Pilot is not alone in its efforts to enhance EV charging options; other major companies, such as Walmart, are also significantly boosting their charging capabilities, with over 600 operational ports already in place.
