Ingram Dominates Brands Hatch to Secure Championship Runner-Up

Ingram's Double Victory: A Strategic Masterclass at Brands Hatch!
Ingram's Commanding Start and Tire Strategy
Tom Ingram, a former BTCC champion, showcased his dominance by securing two consecutive victories at the final event of the British Touring Car Championship season on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit. Starting from pole position in his Excelr8 Motorsport Hyundai i30 N Fastback, Ingram was mandated by regulations to use medium-compound tires. Despite this potential disadvantage, the fact that the top five competitors were also on the same tire compound minimized any performance gap.
Maintaining the Lead and Fending Off Challengers
Ingram executed a flawless start, immediately establishing a lead over front-row contender Josh Cook. By the end of the opening lap, Ingram had a lead of over a second on Cook's Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Corolla GR Sport. Although Cook utilized his TOCA Turbo Boost on the final lap, he was unable to close the gap entirely, finishing just 0.600 seconds behind Ingram. Ingram's tactical driving ensured he never needed to deploy his own limited boost allocation.
A Season of Highs and Securing Second Place
Reflecting on his season, Ingram acknowledged the challenges faced but expressed satisfaction with a strong finish. His double victory at Brands Hatch solidified his position as the championship runner-up, surpassing Dan Cammish in the overall standings. Ingram highlighted his car's impressive speed throughout the weekend, confirming a triumphant conclusion to the season.
Sutton's Ambitious Drive Through the Field
Five-time champion Ash Sutton, starting from fifth on the grid, made an aggressive move at Paddock Hill Bend to overtake Aiden Moffat. Sutton then pursued Ricky Collard's Excelr8 Hyundai, executing a daring pass at Paddock on the fourth lap, skillfully managing a significant slide to complete the maneuver. Following this, Sutton recorded the fastest lap of the race.
The Battle for Fourth and the Independents' Title
Sutton soon found himself challenged by Daryl De Leon of West Surrey Racing, who was the highest-placed driver on soft tires. Both drivers exhausted their TOCA Turbo Boost allocations with two laps remaining, leaving De Leon vulnerable. Mikey Doble, driving a PMR Audi, capitalized on this, needing just one point to secure the Independents' title. Doble dramatically passed De Leon on the final lap at Pilgrim’s Drop, securing fourth place and the championship with flair.
Concluding Positions and Farewell Appearances
Cammish finished sixth, followed by Collard in seventh, who had started strong but faded. Moffat, after an early excursion through the gravel, finished eighth. Dexter Patterson's ninth-place finish ensured three PMR Audis in the top nine and earned him reversed-grid pole position for the next race. Sam Osborne, in his final BTCC appearance with the Alliance Ford team, secured the tenth spot after Dan Lloyd received a track-limits penalty.
