IndyCar Nashville Race Rescheduled to Monday After Weather and World Cup Delays

Initially, the race was slated to commence at 5:35 PM EST. However, the World Cup final, which saw Spain and Argentina battling to a 0-0 tie and proceeding into extra time before Spain clinched a 1-0 victory for their first title since 2010, caused an initial substantial postponement. Just as the football coverage concluded, Nashville was hit by severe rain and lightning. Despite initial attempts to dry the track, another intense downpour around 9 PM EST compelled IndyCar officials to make the decision to postpone the race until Monday, setting the new start time for 3 PM EST (9 PM BST). Furthermore, the race duration has been reduced to 225 laps, a proactive measure taken due to the forecast of extreme heat for Monday.
When the green flag finally drops, Kyle Kirkwood will lead the field from pole position. He aims to narrow the 55-point gap separating him from the reigning four-time champion, Alex Palou, who will start from fourth. Alongside Kirkwood on the front row will be Josef Newgarden, fresh off his recent oval victory at WWT Raceway. Scott McLaughlin starts third, with Scott Dixon rounding out the top five.
