Federal Regulators Broaden Probe into GM V8 Engine Flaws

The agency has received nearly 500 complaints regarding engine failures in vehicles that had already received GM's recall remedies, which included either higher-viscosity oil or a complete engine replacement. Additionally, 191 reports of L87 engine failures have been filed for units manufactured after May 2024, indicating that the problem may extend beyond the scope of the original recall and remedies. This brings the total number of vehicles under the expanded investigation to almost one million.
