Electric Equipment Revolutionizes Brazil's Construction Sector with SDLG

Powering Progress: Brazil's Green Construction Evolution
Pioneering Electric Fleet Deployment in Brazil
SDLG Brazil has achieved a notable milestone by finalizing its initial transaction within the South American nation. This involves the provision of six robust electric wheel loaders to Grupo Base, a prominent Brazilian enterprise specializing in mining, construction, and infrastructure development. This delivery signifies a pivotal moment for the adoption of green technology in the country's heavy industry landscape.
Strategic Acquisition of Advanced Electric Loaders
Back in June, Grupo Base placed an order for these cutting-edge machines, comprising four 27-ton L972 HEV models and two 12.5-ton L938 HEV loaders. These units are manufactured by Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., a renowned Chinese equipment brand. Reports confirm that the initial batch of these powerful, yet quiet, machines is now actively engaged in earth-moving operations on site.
Expanding Horizons for Electric Heavy Equipment
Carlos Renato Machado, the executive director of Tracbel, SDLG's Brazilian distribution partner, emphasized the historical importance of this contract. He noted that it coincides with Tracbel assuming commercial oversight for SDLG across 60% of Brazil. Machado expressed a strong ambition to broaden the application of electric mining and construction machinery throughout the entire region, signaling a concerted effort towards widespread electrification.
Unveiling the Technical Prowess of SDLG Electric Machines
The electric wheel loaders from SDLG are engineered for peak performance, utilizing advanced battery technology. The larger models are equipped with 423 kWh LFP battery packs, powering a 230 kW (approximately 305 hp) electric motor. The more compact units feature 180 kWh LFP battery packs, driving a 180 kW (around 240 hp) electric motor. Both configurations are designed to provide a full day of uninterrupted operation, complemented by rapid DC charging capabilities between shifts, ensuring maximum uptime and productivity.
Grupo Base's Commitment to Sustainable Operations
With an extensive fleet of 450 heavy equipment assets, operating across more than 30 concrete and mortar batching plants and 20 crushed stone and fracking sand sites, Grupo Base is a major player in the industry, employing over 2,000 individuals. The electrification of such a substantial portion of its assets is poised to deliver immense environmental advantages, particularly within Brazil's ecologically sensitive regions. This strategic shift underscores Grupo Base's dedication to sustainable practices.
Driving Environmental Transformation and Efficiency
Edson Pechio, President and CEO of Grupo Base, articulated the company's vision, stating, “We are orchestrating a profound transformation across our operational framework.” He further elaborated on their objective: “Our aim is to integrate solutions that not only boost our operational efficiency but also incrementally diminish greenhouse gas emissions.” This commitment reflects a strategic alignment with global environmental goals and a forward-thinking approach to industrial development.
