Einride Orders 500 Tesla Semis for Largest Electric Truck Deployment

Einride is set to integrate 500 Tesla Semis into its U.S. operations, representing the most substantial public commitment to Tesla's electric heavy-duty vehicles yet. This significant acquisition will boost the Swedish logistics firm's electric truck fleet from approximately 250 to around 750 vehicles. The initial deliveries are slated for the upcoming month, with subsequent batches arriving progressively over the following two years.

The agreement, announced by Einride alongside its first-half financial results, targets key states including California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, and Georgia. Amazon has been identified as a key client benefiting from this expansion, with each truck managed through Einride's proprietary Saga software platform, which optimizes routing and charging schedules. This order surpasses previous records, such as WattEV's order of 370 Tesla Semis for California port drayage, demonstrating Einride's leading role in advancing electric freight solutions. The financial aspect of this large-scale deployment, estimated between $130 million and $145 million for the trucks, is being facilitated through third-party financing solutions, as Einride's cash reserves alone would not cover the full cost. The company also projects approximately $800 million in potential long-term annual recurring revenue from these joint business plans. This North American offering follows the success of Octopus Electroverse, its European counterpart, which has provided access to over 1 million public charging points across more than 40 countries since its launch in 2020, positioning Octopus Charge as a significant step towards a more integrated EV charging ecosystem.
