Dodge Unveils Bold Customization Options for Charger and Durango
Dodge is making waves in the automotive world by introducing an exciting range of customization features for its popular Charger and Durango models. Unveiled at the recent Roadkill Nights event in Pontiac, Michigan, these innovations include striking new graphic packages, an innovative custom color program, and subtle stripe options. The brand, known for its vibrant and creatively named paint colors since the late 1960s, is expanding its legacy of personalization, offering enthusiasts more ways to express their individuality through their vehicles.
One of the standout reveals is the Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen concept, which demonstrates a fresh direction for the automaker's V-8-powered SUV. This concept features a distinctive graphic treatment: the front section of the vehicle is rendered in a vivid Cryo Blue, which seamlessly transitions into a pristine white hue through a unique pixelated design. This gradient effect gradually sheds the blue, creating an intricate pattern across the SUV's body. Integrated within this design on the front doors is a stylized '392' badge, a nod to the powerful 475-horsepower 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine. The white segments at the front cleverly form a robotic-inspired racing stripe, which transforms into a blue-over-white configuration as it extends to the roof. Complementing its bold exterior, the Smokescreen concept is equipped with 20-inch forged wheels, also finished in Cryo Blue, accented with subtle orange detailing that harmonizes with the vehicle's amber daytime running lights. Inside, the cabin boasts luxurious Petrol Blue Laguna leather seats adorned with silver stitching, while the steering wheel and dashboard are wrapped in premium suede and enhanced with carbon-fiber trim, creating a sophisticated yet sporty ambiance.
Adding another layer of personalization, Dodge introduced the Color Jailbreak program, a custom color service designed to give customers unprecedented control over their vehicle's appearance. To gauge public interest, Dodge showcased a Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak in an intense Toxic Orange and a Charger Scat Pack in a rich, verdant Cha Ching Green. This program aims to make unique paint options accessible to a wider audience, with pricing intended to be affordable rather than exclusive. Further enhancing customization, Dodge also presented the new Tinted Dual Stripes graphic, soon to be a factory-installed option for both the Durango and Charger. These stripes feature a translucent finish, allowing the vehicle's body color to subtly show through, offering a more understated yet distinctive look. Examples displayed at Roadkill Nights included a Charger in Bludicrous and a Durango GT Hemi in Redeye. The Durango also sported the new Brass Monkey package, which adds dark bronze 20-inch wheels and black fender badges.
The future availability of the Smokescreen graphics package and the full spectrum of colors within the Color Jailbreak program will largely depend on consumer feedback. Dodge is actively seeking input from its fanbase, inviting attendees to vote for their favorite high-impact color options at the event. While the Tinted Dual Stripes and Brass Monkey package are confirmed for production, the broader offerings of the other customization elements will be shaped by enthusiast preferences, underscoring Dodge's commitment to co-creating unique automotive experiences with its community.
