Daniel Suarez Extends Contract with Spire Motorsports Through 2027 NASCAR Cup Season

Daniel Suarez has officially extended his tenure with Spire Motorsports, committing to drive the No. 7 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series through the 2027 season. This announcement solidifies a successful partnership that began earlier this year, seeing Suarez achieve remarkable milestones and elevate the team's performance to new heights.
The Mexican-born racer's first year with Spire Motorsports has been particularly noteworthy. Among his accomplishments, Suarez secured a victory in the Coca-Cola 600, a race that concluded prematurely due to inclement weather. His achievement marks him as the sole foreign-born driver to triumph in all three national tiers of NASCAR competition. Furthermore, he remains the only non-U.S. native to claim a national-level championship, having previously won the 2016 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series title.
Suarez's journey in the Cup Series began in 2017 with Joe Gibbs Racing, where he competed for two years before transitioning to Stewart-Haas Racing for another two seasons. In 2020, he raced with Gaunt Brothers Racing, eventually becoming a foundational driver for Trackhouse Racing in 2021, where he spent five consecutive years prior to joining Spire. Throughout his extensive career, Suarez has amassed three Cup Series victories: a win at Sonoma in 2022, an Atlanta win in 2024, and the recent emotional triumph at Charlotte in 2026.
Currently, Suarez holds the 14th position in the championship standings, trailing the top ten by merely 35 points with only four races remaining in the season. His teammates, Carson Hocevar, driving the No. 77, and Michael McDowell in the No. 71, are ranked tenth and twentieth, respectively. The 2026 season has proven to be a pivotal period for Suarez, as he has consistently met and exceeded expectations. His average finish of 15.2 represents the best performance of his Cup career. This individual success is mirrored by a significant overall improvement for Spire Motorsports, particularly for the No. 7 car, which last season averaged a 22.2 finish, highlighting the substantial progress made under Suarez's leadership.
This renewed commitment underscores both Suarez's impactful contributions and Spire Motorsports' strategic vision for continued success in the competitive landscape of NASCAR. The team and driver are poised to build upon their recent achievements, aiming for even greater milestones in the seasons to come.
