Chevy Blazer EV Price Increase: What You Need to Know for 2027

Chevrolet's electric Blazer is making a comeback for the 2027 model year with notable revisions, including an increase in its entry-level cost. The base 2027 Chevy Blazer EV LT model now begins at $45,000, representing a $300 uptick from the previous year. Factoring in a destination fee of $1,795, the effective starting manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) climbs to $46,795. Similarly, the sport-oriented 2027 Blazer EV RS also sees a $300 price increment, initiating at $52,595. In contrast, the top-tier SS variant maintains its price point of $62,495, which includes standard all-wheel-drive (AWD). For the LT and RS trims, opting for AWD incurs an additional cost of $3,000. The LT and RS models are equipped with an 85 kWh battery, delivering an EPA-estimated range of up to 312 miles for front-wheel-drive (FWD) configurations and 283 miles for AWD versions. The SS trim, featuring a larger 102 kWh battery, provides a range of up to 302 miles.
Beyond pricing adjustments, the 2027 Blazer EV introduces several enhancements. Notably, it incorporates a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing drivers seamless access to Tesla Superchargers without the need for an adapter—a feature now standard across all new 2027 GM electric vehicles. Furthermore, an optional eight-speaker premium Bose sound system is now available, addressing a common critique from current owners. This premium audio option was previously exclusive to the SS trim but is now extended to the more accessible LT and RS models. Despite these upgrades, the Blazer EV's revised starting price of $46,795 positions it higher than several competitors, such as the Tesla Model Y ($41,380), Toyota bZ ($36,575), and Hyundai IONIQ 5 ($36,900), although the Blazer EV does offer a larger interior and overall length.
The increased pricing coincides with a substantial decline in Chevy Blazer EV sales, which plummeted by nearly 80% following the expiration of the federal $7,500 tax credit. According to insights from Kelley Blue Book, only 4,427 Chevy Blazer EVs were sold through the third quarter, a significant drop from the 20,825 units sold during the corresponding period last year. This highlights a challenging market environment for the vehicle, as it navigates competitive pricing and shifting consumer incentives. These developments underscore the dynamic nature of the electric vehicle market, where technological advancements, pricing strategies, and government policies continuously shape consumer adoption and sales performance.
In an evolving automotive landscape, the introduction of the 2027 Chevy Blazer EV, with its strategic enhancements and price adjustments, reflects Chevrolet's commitment to innovation in the electric vehicle sector. Despite facing market fluctuations, the Blazer EV's updated features, such as expanded charging compatibility and improved in-cabin technology, signal a proactive approach to meeting consumer demands and enhancing the ownership experience. This forward-looking strategy is crucial for sustaining growth and fostering a positive trajectory in the competitive electric vehicle market.
