Unleashing the Passion for Automotive and Aviation Enthusiasts

A Showcase of Automotive Brilliance

The Wings N Wheels event was a true testament to the passion and creativity of car enthusiasts. With over 300 vehicles on display, the entire taxiway at the Iowa County Airport was filled to the brim, creating a visual feast for attendees. From classic muscle cars to sleek modern marvels, the diversity of the automotive showcase was truly impressive. "The amount of people who showed up was insane," remarked Corian Du Plessis, the owner of Low Standards. "People were saying traffic was backed up before the gates were even supposed to open." The event organizers, despite the unexpected turnout, handled the influx of visitors with remarkable efficiency, ensuring a seamless experience for all.

The Thrill of the Airstrip Race

One of the highlights of the Wings N Wheels event was the ¼ mile airstrip race, where participants had the opportunity to push their vehicles to the limit in a controlled and safe environment. A total of 127 people registered for the radar run, with the fastest time of 155 mph set by Dustin Faulkner in his Suzuki Hayabusa. The event provided a unique platform for automotive enthusiasts to showcase their driving skills and the capabilities of their machines. "My favorite part of the event itself was driving my car down the airstrip and getting to watch others drive theirs as well," said Logan Brown, the AEC Sponsorship Coordinator.

Celebrating Automotive Diversity

The car show portion of the Wings N Wheels event was a true celebration of automotive diversity. With 12 different categories, including Best of Show, Best Classic, Best Domestic, and Best Import, the event recognized the exceptional craftsmanship and unique designs of the participating vehicles. "The turnout for this show was truly unexpected, from the number of different cars and age groups, it was unbelievable," said JC Heinrichs, the AEC Vice President.

The Aerial Spectacle

While the automotive showcase was the main attraction, the Wings N Wheels event also featured an impressive aerial display. Three planes took to the skies, captivating the audience with their take-offs and landings. This added element of aviation excitement complemented the automotive festivities, creating a truly well-rounded experience for attendees.

Volunteer Efforts and Future Plans

The success of the Wings N Wheels event was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the AEC members who volunteered their time to ensure the smooth running of the day's activities. "I would say the best part about working the event was getting to see the variety of different vehicles that people entered in the show," said Lane Breitsprecker, an AEC member. The AEC will be hosting their fall annual car show on October 5th at Millennium Cinema in Platteville, Wisconsin, continuing to provide a platform for automotive enthusiasts to showcase their prized possessions. The third annual Wings N Wheels event was a resounding success, captivating the hearts and minds of car and aviation enthusiasts alike.
