Australian Racer Brown Set to Compete in Prestigious NASCAR Event

Defending Australian Supercars Series champion Will Brown is preparing for a significant challenge in the world of NASCAR. The 26-year-old driver, known for his eleven career wins and impressive third-place finish in last year's Bathurst 1000, will race at the Chicago Street Course. Driving a third entry Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing, Brown aims to follow in the footsteps of fellow Supercar talent Shane van Gisbergen (SVG), who previously triumphed in a NASCAR Cup debut. With backing from MobileX as the primary sponsor, this event marks another step in Brown’s pursuit of success on American soil.
Brown made his initial appearance in NASCAR last year when he competed in a Cup race at Sonoma under Richard Childress Racing. Despite starting from the back, his participation showcased potential, leading to an invitation for the upcoming Chicago Street Course race. This time around, he joins AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon as part of the Kaulig Racing team, piloting the No. 13 Chevrolet. His inclusion highlights the growing trend of Supercars drivers transitioning into NASCAR, following SVG’s decision to pursue a full-time career in the series.
The alignment of the Supercars calendar allowed Brown ample preparation time ahead of the Grant Park 165 race. Having observed SVG’s victory in 2023, Brown expressed excitement about competing in such a prestigious event. He noted his anticipation for driving the MobileX-sponsored vehicle, emphasizing admiration for Kaulig Racing's performance this season. Team owner Matt Kaulig echoed optimism, stating that Brown's talent positions them well for a competitive showing.
This July 6th race represents more than just another competition; it signifies a chance for Brown to achieve historic recognition. As the first Australian-born driver since 2012 to vie for a Cup-level win, success could solidify his place among elite international racers. With extensive experience across various racing formats, including two Bathurst 12 Hours class victories, Brown brings a unique skill set to the track.
Kaulig Racing views this opportunity not merely as a race but as a platform to demonstrate their competitive edge. By aligning with a driver of Brown’s caliber, they aim to capture one of the most respected trophies in motorsport. The stage is set for a thrilling showdown where tradition meets innovation, and global talents converge to create unforgettable moments in racing history.
