Annual Car Extravaganza in Hyrum Draws Enthusiasts from Across the Region
An eagerly anticipated event is set to take place this Saturday, where automobile aficionados will gather in Hyrum for a day of celebration dedicated to all things automotive. The Hyrum Hot Wheels Car Show, now in its twelfth year, promises an engaging experience filled with food, entertainment, and the chance to admire a wide array of vehicles on display. Taking place at Hyrum City Square from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the event has grown significantly over the years, becoming the largest fundraiser for the local museum.
In addition to being a spectacle for car lovers, the event showcases a variety of custom creations, including one standout piece by local entrepreneur Lael Griffin. Last fall, Griffin acquired a candy apple red T-bucket, which he plans to feature prominently in this year's show. This particular model, known as a two-seater body of a Model T roadster, is distinguished by its bucket-shaped design. Modern interpretations often boast powerful V-8 engines, robust drivetrains, and strikingly large rear tires that emphasize performance. Griffin's vehicle includes unique modifications such as a Jaguar suspension, leather diamond-tufted seats, and a wooden dashboard, making it a true showstopper.
The Hyrum Hot Wheels Car Show not only highlights finished masterpieces but also provides a platform for those still working on their projects. With more registered participants than ever before, the event offers something for everyone, from muscle cars to meticulously restored vintage models. Museum curator Courtney Cochley notes the growing interest in the event, expressing excitement about the number of entries received so far. Beyond the cars, attendees can enjoy offerings from seven food trucks and explore the Cache Valley Kids Market.
