Governor Matt Meyer of Delaware has announced his intention to revoke the electric vehicle sales regulation established by the previous administration. By 2032, this figure would rise to 82%. However, Meyer insists that such regulations will not take effect under his leadership. He advocates for allowing both buyers and sellers more flexibility in their choices concerning automobile purchases and sales.

In recent years, there has been significant growth in electric vehicle adoption within Delaware. Data from the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) reveals that EVs accounted for 12% of new 2024 registrations, an increase from just 2% in 2020.
